Old Favorite With a New Twist
What’s camping without a campfire and the traditional treat of fire-roasted marshmallows, melted chocolate and crunchy graham crackers? We found this unique way to prepare and serve this favorite from the good folks at Lodge Cast-Iron Cookware. It can be prepared over a campfire or at home on the grill or in the oven. Plus, it stays extra warm inside the cast iron skillet!
The following recipe is designed for your oven but modified for camping. Give this recipe a try on your campfire, and send us your Instagram photos and tell us how you prepared your Skillet S’mores Dip. We may feature it in an upcoming edition of Edible Chicago!

24 ounces semi’sweet chocolate morsels
10 ounces large marshmallows

Cover and bake over campfire for 7-10 minutes, until marshmallows are toasted.
Remove from the fire and serve using graham crackers to dip.
Editor’s tip: We suggest you try Dandies brand ail natural, Non-Gmo marshmallows, Annie’s Organic Honey Grahams—both can usually be found at your local fresh market or co-op—and organic and fair trade chocolate bars such as Equal Exchange. (equalexchange.coop)
